Bettie Ellis

Died - At the family residence in Star City, Arkansas, November 10, 1891, Mrs. Bettie Ellis, consort of Capt. E.S. Ellis, and daughter of Bro. Alsey Atkinson of Star City.
She was born in Mississippi, February, 1841, and removed to Arkansas in December 1865, and settled not far from this place. In September 1868 she professed faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church and was baptized by Bro. M.Y. Moran. She lived a consistent Christian life, loved and honored by all who knew her.
Our beloved sister was a great sufferer for more than a year preceding her death. Her disease was cancerous affliction of the breast. In the early spring, she went to New York, and had an operation performed, which for a time, led to the delusive hope that she might recover, but alas for human hope! It very soon returned with even greater violence, the last three months of her life, its ravages were very rapid.
For a long while she dreaded death, and gave herself much concern because she could not fell entire resignation to it, but as the messenger came nearer, grace was given he triumph. Her words were: "I fully trust my Savior; I am perfectly resigned to His will; let him do with me what he sees best."
She leaves a husband, aged father and three brothers, and a large number of relatives and friends for a home on the other side. My the Lord comfort the bereaved husband and  relatives is the prayer of her pastor.
