Emma C.Mathews

Mrs. Emma C., wife of Ben T. Mathews, at their home 1113 Cumberland St., Little Rock, Ark., August 24th, 1891 at 7 o'clock a.m. Aged thirty-nine years and seven months.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Hill of Mississippi, her mother now being Mrs. Tolbert, of this city.
She and Mr. Mathews were married the 22 of February 1871, and seven children were born to them; two have gone before, while five remain, three girls and two boys, who deeply mourn the loss of one of the truest and best mothers, whose earnest prayers for her childrens' present and eternal well being, will doubtless never be forgotten by them.
Mrs. Mathews has been a pious and faithful Christian from her 12th year, but did not join the church until about twenty years ago, and she was baptized by her step-brother, Rev. Thomas S. Tolbert, into the fellowship of the Dardanelle Baptist church, of which she remained a faithful member until the removal of the family to this city several years ago, when she became a member of the Second Baptist church, in which she enjoyed the fullest confidence of the pastor and entire membership, and her death is a sad bereavement to all.
The funeral took place from the residence August 24th, at 4 0'clock, conducted by her pastor, Interment at Mt. Holly.
